    544 Steering Issues

    Hi,
I have a friend that has a 544 with some steering issues. The tractor will turn left nice and tight but can only make wide-wide right turns. Any idea what the issue is?

Just a hunch that some one over tightened the steering box.
If it isnt broken, dont repair it.

What model 544 is this tractor and has it got full hydrastatic steering with no mechanical linkage or manual type steering?

Sorry for the slow reply, it has the fully hydro steering.

On our Case backhoes with full hydraulic steering, that usually indicated bad packing in one steering cylinder, and it is wise to pack them both at the same time.

    Skipper,
Appreciate the reply. Does this mean that both steering cylinder need to be rebuilt?

I would recommend repacking both of them.
