    Queensland, Australia.
Our real hot weather may be over now but we have a category 4 cyclone (hurricane in the northern hemisphere speak) that has just hit the north coast in the Mackay / Ayr with winds gusting over 250 kph and lots of rain. One area up on the coastal ranges had over 800mm (30" approx today). Its moving inland now and been down graded. The rain depression is expected to travel inland and south towards my area in 2 day's time and there is expectations we could get between 4 to 8" of rain from it. This would be good as it will help break our drought. At present about 75% of Queensland is drought declared as there has been very little summer rain. Does not look like much catastrophic damage shown on our news though, only superficial damage such as trees down, no power or phones, roof, window & verandah damage along with a lot of water around.

Hope the damage stays minor, and you all get some well needed moisture from the storm. I can recall several times the remnants of a hurricane brought us some needed relief from an extra dry summer. If I remember my grade school education properly, that type storm in the Atlantic ocean is called a hurricane, and the same type Pacific ocean storm is a cyclone. At least in the waters surrounding North America.

John, I always hate to hear about hurricane damage no matter how slight. Hopefully just the right amount of rain will make it to your area and flooding if any will be minor.

John, NC has had its share of hurricanes and been damaged by them. I believe flooding to be the worst damage that a hurricane can cause. Eastern NC was flooded extensively last fall by Matthew, and it will take many years for folks to recover. Hope you and all in Aussie Land escape the wrath of the storm.

Starting at 47 degrees here in the middle of KY this morning. Headed to a high around 70. Definitely in the Spring weather pattern. Rain for a day and a half then dry for a day and a half. We're in the middle of the dry this morning.
