I was out cruising the back roads the other night after work.Found the remnants of a D.Checked the serial number and found it to be a 1938 model. It is 3200 from the change to the styled model. Not much left of it but it has been added to the collection of massey mechanic items.

This is the plan.Next year our club is featuring JD.This one is going to be set up to show the D from the inside out.We hope it will give those that don't know a better understanding of how the internal components work together.I have a complete set of gears, engine and other parts to build this into the display that I am wanting. If one person learns something from this project the effort will have been worth it.

It's a shame to see a fine piece of machinery treated like that!

Knowing me,it won't end at just making it to show how it works internally.Likely in the end I will put it all back together and make it work.

At least one doesn't have to tell their spouse theres another old tractor enterting the yard. It is sad hope you got the parts, I have learned the lesson "you can't save them all"

I am interested in knowing about this club show I'm not overly too far away and have a D as my own.

Ya there still is some Praire gold around here, sadly with scrap prices from 90-150 dollars a ton and most little farms being bought out. I'm guessing there will not be much left in 10 years, which is sad espically sinc most aren't being bought by the right people either scrapmetal or being shipped overseas.
And I've pretty much stopped field hunting, I've since noticed why buy something seized and needing alot of TLC when at some farm sales a running D or A will sell as low as 750-1000. I used to try to save anything and everything and have a great appreciation in collectors still saving a piece that some would have considered too far gone.

Right now I'm restoring a 1970 Kenworth highway tractor but its discouraging when I'm taking parts off trucks that are in better shape then the one I'm trying to fix..... hahah ... but I guess I'm hooked

I really hope to see alot of updates and of course the finished product of this D
