Nicely done! Cant wait til we get the A back together which coincidentally had to be torn apart b/c of NO oil pressure. Again, your B looks great.

Im hoping that I dont have to tear this one apart again just to fix the oil pressure. Sad
does anyone have a drawing of the way this tractor keeps itself lubed? I know its got plenty of oil, we follow the manual, 7 quarts. maybe i didn't tighten the oil guage enough Confused this is bothering me, im now second guessing everything I did during the restoration.

Thanks again to everyone for the comments and the help!

On a side note: does anyone have a spare step for this tractor that they would want to part with?

thanks dusti, one question... on the B we replaced the oil guage line with a new one from deere, it just had brass fittings that screwed into the top of the crank case and the other end had a fitting that angled over and went into the guage.
is this all there is? This would suggest that the entire crank case is under pressure. am I missing something?

The other end of that fitting goes to the oil pump.

Thank you very much, im still trying to figure out the oil pressure issue. The best we can figure is that it's got about 4-5 lbs of pressure on it, but the guage isnt reading much.

Hey that looks great. Can't wait to get my 1953 JD40S finished. It's been slow go. Hope it turns out as good looking as yours.

According to DC Snider's link, the oil pressure is adjustable, turn the screw clockwise a half turn & check what your gauge reads, keep going until it reads 10 - 15 lbs at idle. Check your gauge reading by installing a low pressure stewart warner gauge ( 10 - 30lbs ) to verify what your present gauge is reading.
