Although its hardly an antique at 23 years old this 87 model 7721 JD pull type combine is new to me. Very well kept machine for its age and I'm hoping it will do a real good job harvesting my flax.
The 7721 Titan II was the last of that series before they came out with the Maximizers including the 9501 pull type.

Thats my 7130. Its a 1992 model and I think the 18 speed power shift and front wheel assist should make it a good match for the combine. _________________ Cockshutt 50,40, and various IH trucks, etc. |

I have no doubt the 7130 will do fine. A neighbour pulls the same combine with a 2 WD John Deere . Recommended size is minimum 125 hp. Mine is conservatively rated at 170 hp so no worries. _________________ Cockshutt 50,40, and various IH trucks, etc. |

I have saw a JD 4630 pull one in a picture once. It has 150HP, so the CIH should do well with it. |

This 7721 is just a pull type of the 7720 self propelled and they were a very popular combine here. That is a pickup header only designed for picking up swaths so no straight cutting. It has a full set of grain and shaft monitors in the tractor cab as well as a cylinder tach. Its got a good long unloading auger and if I take the duals off the tractor is should be no problem unloading on the go. Corn headers are not really needed up this far north as no corn is grown except in gardens. _________________ Cockshutt 50,40, and various IH trucks, etc. |

Only canola, and some have even tried straight cutting that but I think it has not caught on too well.
Cereal grains we mostly straight cut now. Some will dessicate with roundup before harvest to even out the ripening. I have straight cut oats and it worked fairly well although I know some did shell out.
Flax I usually like to swath and let lay til it ripens and dries the tough wiry straw out some. Although last year I had it straight cut in late fall by custom. It was a strange year and the straw was still tough getting through even at that late date. _________________ Cockshutt 50,40, and various IH trucks, etc. |
