I"ve got a farmall 140.The tractor set for several years. I got tractor runnin but recently noticed gas comin frombottom of muffler[top of exhaust manifold.] And is floodin itself out and will not run.I took carb[marvel-scheibler] off and cleaned up good and put a rebuild kit in it.It fired right up and went to use and ran good for a few minutes but done same thing.float sticking? or something else?? _________________ 200? kubota 7510 , 197? john deere 4430 ,198? john deere 650 ,1961 farmall 140 19?? farmall 140, 19?? farmall hc 140 |

Did you replace needle and seat together? Older sets are a machined needle and seat and should be replaced together or you might not get a good seal. I'm leaning towards bad float though _________________ crops are green, tractors are red! |

It could also be some dirt under the needle valve keeping it from closing completely. Did you use some sealant under the seat. Sometimes they will leak from behind the seat. _________________ Electrical problems require a smaller hammer! |

Ive never put any type of sealant on a seat before, the kits I get have a small round gasket for that. Just curious what type of sealant your using there. _________________ 2 1941 Farmall Ms (Consecutive Numbers), 1940 M, 1939 F14, 1949 Cub, 1945 I-4, 1971 154 LoBoy

Sometimes the washers (gaskets) will not seal due to pitting of metal of the body. A very thin coat of sealant such as black permatex on the washer. Apply with a toothpick - it doesn't take much - and it can prevent a problem. _________________ Electrical problems require a smaller hammer! |
