Originally built by the Samson Tractor Co. and later taken over by General Motors. I know of 7 of these tractors in the South Island.

The Samson tractor co started in1898 and was in the owner's hand's
until GMC bought him out in 1916 they tried to build a tractor to challenge
Ford but they could not match Fords price and it folded in 1919 I read it
cost GMC $20,000,000 all up the only thing was a factory to build chevs Whew
